Looking for a fun end of the year Teacher Appreciation gift? Look no further. By using Marvy Uchida's line of versatile products, you can create this fun thank you pot brimming with colorful photo flowers!
Let's make the flowers- Use your Clever Lever Extra Giga Scalloped Circle punch to create colorful circles from cardstock. You will need two per flower.
To create a frame, punch one circle from the center of the scalloped punches using your Super Jumbo Clever Lever Circle Punch. Option- if you have trouble with this step, create a cardstock template using the circle punch and trace a circle in the center of the scalloped punch. Then cut out with scissors. You will need one frame per flower.
Now we need to create some dimension so the flowers are not flat. To do this, I used Marvy's Super Hotwire foam cutter.
I used cellfoam to cut circle frames to place between the cardstock pieces. Cellfoam is a product that is not widely available but denser and thinner than Styrofoam. 1" thick Styrofoam would work just as well.
In order to cut a neat circle, I created a template from recycled food packaging by tracing a circular object and a smaller object for the center to create a frame.
Cut the frame out with scissors, and cut a small slit in the side.
Use a few straight pins to pin the template to the foam and cut away. By using the chipboard template, you will get nice, even edges.
Now we need some cute kids photos. Print out onto heavy printer paper and trace circles using the scalloped chipboard frame.
Cut out, leaving a 1/4" border around the traced lines. To assemble each flower, glue the foam circle to the scalloped circle back. Glue the picture to the back of the scalloped frame and glue pieces together.
We need a stem. Use a black DecoColor marker to color plain craft sticks.
When dry, glue the back of the stem to the flower.
Use Marvy's Pigmented Artist Marker in Black to create details if you would like.
To create the pot- Use the black DecoColor marker to paint the bottom of the pot and white for the top.
Finally, I used the white DecoColor marker to write a special note for teacher on the pot. Cut a Stryrofoam ball in half, glue it to the bottom of the pot inside, and place flowers in the foam. Fill with shredded material or other filler of choice.
Live Life Creatively,
Super Cute!
