I have been using Jacquard's Lumiere paints on every surface imaginable. From Wood to Fabricand everything in between. For today's tutorial, i decided to create these easy but functional tags using plain ol shipping tags purchased from an office supply store such as Office Depot.I am also giving away supplies to create your own tags (four bottles of Lumiere paints, cotton percale sheets, tags, die cuts and bling centers) so don't miss the details below on how to enter. I will chose a winner at random.
Jacquard Lumiere paints in colors of choice- I used Citrine Green, Pearlescent Blue and Magenta, and Metallic Copper.
Jacquard Cotton Percale inkjet sheets
Manila shipping tags, die cut flower layers, black card stock, black pigment ink, antique book pages and paper adhesive.
To create colorwashes, mix a small amount of paint with water in a 1:1 ratio. Paint the tag, one side at a time with a paint brush or foam brush. Be careful not to over saturate the paper. As the paint dries, the tags will curl. Once you paint the remaining side, the tags will flatten.
I am always on the hunt for fun old books like this one that I can use to craft with. There is no substitute for the aged look of the pages.
I used a Sizzix layered Flower die cut to cut shapes from the book pages as well as black card stock.
Next, before adhereing the die cuts, I inked the edges with black pigment ink, to add to the shabby look of the tags. Then, I used Zip Dry Paper Glue from Beacon adhesives to glue the pieces in layers to the painted tags.
Next, I created some fitting sentiments in a basic word processing program. I am planning on using these tags for a wide variety of gift packaging, so I kept that in mind.
I printed these out on the cotton sheets and cut them into small strips to fit on the tags. Next, I used my sewing machine, black thread (for contrast) and a straight stitch to sew the tag edges and to sew the sentiment to the tag.
Here is a look at the final sewn tags-
So here are the details of the giveaway- leave me a comment letting me know what you would do with your tags and I will send you the materials including four bottles of Luminere paint and cotton percale sheets so you can make up to ten tags. Please leave comments by July 15th, 12 AM CST and I will announce the winner on my blog July 16th (US residents only please). Winner will be chosen at random and leave as many comments as you want to increase your chances.
Good luck!
Live Life Creatively,

I would definitely use them in my altered art projects and scrapbook pages. Actually I think I would also use them as they are-as a little "Thinking of You" card

Your tags are gorgeous and the tutorial is greatly appreciated! I would use the tags to attach to cards or gifts for my BFF. She is more a sister to me than my own is. I recently moved 10 hrs. away from her and hate it! She is always there for me, good and bad, and deserves as much beauty as I can giver her!!

I would love these tags to place on the baby blankets I give to the local teen mothering shelter. I am always looking for a way to personalize them since I do not know any of the people that are receiving them.
