Pendants and beaded necklaces are the one jewelry item that I cannot go without. I needed a place to store some of the
I used Americana Acrylics in Spiced Pumpkin and Moss Green from DecoArt to create this plaque along with Beacon Adhesives Fast Finish Decoupage.
Die cut letters in your initials from Elmers Foam Board were painted with Espresso brown paint. I originally planned to give the board to my Mom for Mothers Day but missed the deadline and decided to keep the board for myself!!
A thin wood strip was painred Moss Green and attached to the board to hold the layered buttons in place.
The board was painted Spiced Pumpkin.
I trimmed a rectangle and house motif from Susan K. Weckresser for Suzy Bee Studios papers and applied them to the plaque with the decoupage medium.
The step can be completed using a foam brush and your fingers to apply the medium and smooth out air bubbles. I always make a habit of sanding the edges of the piece I am decoupaging as well as cuting them a 1/4" smaller to ensure the edges are even with the wood.
Hand dyed buttons from Laura Kelly and Buttons Galore and More make a nice fill in for the bird cut out. To do this I first glued two wood squares I had in my stash with Beacon Adhesives Tacky glue to make a place to layer on the buttons.
This same glue also was used to apply the foam letters and wood strip.
A liberal amount of glue was applied on top of the wood and the buttons were placed inside the cutout one at a time.
Finally, I added some layered buttons to the wood strip with glue to serve as holders for the jewelry.
My colors are bright and cheerful but you can customize your jewelry holder to suit your decor.
